It may have been written by Bacharach & David, but it's the great Ray Conniff and the Singers doing the backup. Glad I'm not alone in my appreciation the Conniff aggregation.
About Burt & Angie's daughter, her passing had to've been a real heartache. Depressed over her Aperger's syndrome, the news said. Died peaceful, painless death. A plastic bag & helium, they explained. A lot simpler than "Dr. Death's" remedy. (Could say she floated off to meet her maker. :-/ )
